SUNY Downstate has upgraded its Student Information System to Banner 9.
Students now have a more modern web interface and a more streamlined experience utilizing Banner 9 Self Service. This document will assist with the new features that are available in Banner 9 Self-Service.
Accessing Banner 9 Self-Service
Click on the Banner Self-Service link located on the Current Student portal on the Downstate website.
Banner 9 Student Self-Service Home Page
The home page provides a listing of quick links to different areas of the self service site.
Student Profile
The Student Profile is a dashboard of student information. This page contains a variety of data, some of the data is term specific and the term can be changed via the Term dropdown [1].
Types of information found on the Student Profile:
- Academic Standing
- Registration Notices and Holds
- Summary of Registered Courses
- Biographical Information
- Graduation Information (If Applicable)
- Academic Transcripts
- Detailed Hours (credits)
- Prior Education and Test Score Information
The Registered Courses section will show all your courses for the selected Term [1]. This
section will show each course’s Title, Subject, Course Number, Section, CRN, Hours (Credits), Registration Status, and Instructor. To view additional information about a particular course, just click on the CRN link [3].
Registration
This takes you to the Register for Classes section of Banner 9.
View Grades
Once grades are pushed for students to view, you can navigate to this page and check your grades. This page will show Midterm and Final Grades for each course for a particular semester. If needed, you can change the semester you are viewing via the Term dropdown [1]. This page will also provide GPA Summary and Primary Curriculum details.
Note: To view data for any term you must have the Term [1] and Course Level [2] fields filled out.
Academic Transcript
This page allows you to view your unofficial transcript. To generate your unofficial transcript just enter the Transcript Level [1] and Transcript Type [2] from the provided dropdowns.
Tax Notification (1098-T)
Select the Tax Year you wish to view from the drop-down menu.
