Accessible Zoom sessions are easier for all participants to use and help support ADA and WCAG requirements.
Use Captions
- Zoom can provide automatic captions during meetings.
- Captions should be enabled whenever possible and reviewed afterward if a recording will be shared.
Speak Clearly
- Use a good microphone, speak at a moderate pace, and avoid talking over other participants.
- If questions are asked in chat or by voice, repeat them before answering.
Describe Visual Content
- Do not rely only on what appears on screen.
- Read important slide text aloud and briefly describe charts, graphs, images, or demonstrations being shared.
- Zoom also supports keyboard shortcuts, screen readers, and transcript views for recordings.
Use Accessible Shared Content
- Slides should use large fonts, good color contrast, and simple layouts.
- If you share documents or websites during the session, make sure they are readable and accessible.
Review Before Sharing Recordings
Before posting a Zoom recording, make sure:
- Captions are accurate
- Audio is clear
- Shared content is readable
- Important visuals are described
